IIT Jodhpur invites applications for admission to its pioneering M.Des. in XR Design program offered by the School of Design for the academic year 2025-26, commencing in July 2025.

About the M.Des. in XR Design Program

The M.Des. in XR Design program is a groundbreaking initiative in Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), and Virtual Reality (VR) experience design. This program caters to the growing industry demand for professionals skilled in creating engaging, practical, and socially relevant extended reality experiences across domains like healthcare, entertainment, and education.

Seat Categories

The M.Des. in XR Design program offers two types of seats:

1. Full-Time Regular Seats

Selection for full-time regular seats follows this process:

• Shortlisting is based on a shortlist score derived from:

  • CEED 2025 score

  • Statement of Purpose (SoP)

  • Portfolio

  • Design Task submitted with the application.

• Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an online interview to assess:

  • Design aptitude

  • Problem-solving skills

  • Creativity based on their portfolio.

• The final selection is based on the overall shortlist score and interview performance.

• Seat allocation follows government reservation guidelines.

2. Self-Sponsored Seats

Selection for self-sponsored seats follows this process:

• Shortlisting is based on a shortlist score derived from:

  • Statement of Purpose (SoP)

  • Portfolio

  • Design Task submitted with the application.

• Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an online interview assessing their design skills and portfolio.

• Final selection is based on the overall shortlist score and interview performance.

Total Seats Available

The program offers a total of 26 seats, distributed as follows:

• 13 Full-Time Regular Seats (CEED 2025 score required)

• 13 Self-Sponsored Seats (no CEED score required)

Note: Candidates applying for both categories must create separate logins in the ERP system using different email IDs.

Eligibility Criteria

1. CEED 2025 Score Requirement

• Mandatory for full-time regular seats.

• Not required for self-sponsored seats.

2. Qualifying Degrees

Applicants must have completed one of the following degrees:

• Full-Time Regular Seats:

  • Four or more years of a Bachelor's degree (completed on or before 2025).

• Self-Sponsored Seats:

  • Three years of a Bachelor's degree (completed on or before 2024), OR

  • Four or more years of a Bachelor's degree (completed on or before 2025).

• Professional Diploma in Design:

  • 10+2+4 years (minimum four-year diploma program).

• GD Art (4-year program after a 1-year foundation year)

  • Requires one year of professional experience in design.

• Master’s Degree or equivalent, as determined by IIT Jodhpur.

Financial Assistance & Awards

• Full-time regular students may be eligible for a monthly stipend (as per MoE notified rates) in exchange for 8 hours of Teaching or Research Assistantship per week.

• All students can apply for various awards, grants, and institute-supported financial

  assistance.
